mogonv:

Well, guys… I don’t post much here anymore because I try to use this blog more for finished paintings (which I don’t do much of these days!) and i’ve mainly just been posting rougher stuff on my twitter!

I *am* much more active on twitter these days anyways, @mogonv.  instagram less so, but my handle there is littlecasiosounds.

this goddamn website is ridiculous. I only hope that I can sift through my inspo and reblog blogs to save all the best bits before tumblr just… y’know… goes. A bunch of sfw posts of mine getting flagged makes me kind of worried about the viability of the site.

I just wanna be clear, i’m not actually -leaving- or deleting anything. I wanna see how far this goes. But still, I’m much more active on twitter!

The show I worked on as a board rev artist last year premiered on friday! THE HOLLOW!! i’ve been checking the tumblr tag and I have to say, it’s so surreal seeing people talk about something you worked so hard on for so long. i’m loving every post. thanks for watching, everyone!

It’s been a long long long long time.

2016 art summary! Goes month by month. A lot of them are doodles I just kept to myself.

This was an exceptionally tough year. The first half of it was completely devoted to finishing my thesis project – and while I can say I got some film festival acceptances and a degree in animation out of it, it really stretched me thin in all areas and left me burnt out! Pretty much everything painted this year was a character bust. Anything else were just sketches that never really went anywhere.

It’s really weird that this is the first time since the 90s that I haven’t been in school. I’m excited that I’m starting a new chapter in my life and hopefully I can devote more time to working on bettering myself as not only an artist but as a person… learning to value myself outside of what I create is tough but ultimately it’ll lead to a better me.

I wish you all the best in 2017. Thanks for sticking with me!

Updated my about/faq page!

How did everyone’s September go?

We have been contacted by a group of Vancouver animators who are putting together documentation of unpaid overtime in the industry. In order to be compensation for unpaid overtime, a complaint has to be filed with BC Employment Standards. They are planning a group filing.

We highly encourage anyone who has worked unpaid overtime to email us at animationwageshare@gmail.com to be included in the documentation.

Under BC employment standards, no worker works for free. An employee either makes their regular rate or time and a half for their overtime hours, depending on if the high tech classification applies, but they are paid for the hours they work. If you have not received legal compensation or time off in exchange for your overtime work, please join this initiative. You could be looking at significant retroactive compensation.

Please share this far and wide to encourage artists to contact us.
